No todos los niños tienen una infancia feliz.

Muchos sonríen mientras esconden un dolor que nadie ve. Algunos viven con miedo, otros con vergüenza, y muchos guardan silencio porque creen que nadie les creerá o porque han sido amenazados para no hablar.

El silencio de un niño nunca debe interpretarse como que todo está bien.

Como padres, madres y cuidadores, tenemos la responsabilidad de hablar con ellos desde pequeños sobre los riesgos que existen, de enseñarles a cuidar su cuerpo, a reconocer cuando una situación no es segura y, sobre todo, a saber que siempre tendrán un adulto de confianza que los escuchará sin juzgarlos.

La prevención comienza en casa. No basta con amar a nuestros hijos; también debemos prepararlos para enfrentar un mundo donde, lamentablemente, no todas las personas tienen buenas intenciones.

Escucha a tus hijos. Cree en sus palabras. Haz preguntas. Gana su confianza cada día.

Porque un niño que sabe que será escuchado tiene más posibilidades de romper el silencio antes de que sea demasiado tarde. Nuestra voz puede protegerlos, pero enseñarles que su voz también tiene valor puede salvarles la vida.

Not every child has a happy childhood.

Many children smile while hiding pain that no one can see. Some live in fear, others in shame, and many remain silent because they believe no one will believe them—or because they have been threatened into keeping quiet.

A child’s silence should never be mistaken for a sign that everything is okay.

As parents, caregivers, and communities, we have the responsibility to talk with children from an early age about the risks they may face. We must teach them that their bodies deserve respect, help them recognize when a situation feels unsafe, and, most importantly, make sure they know there is always a trusted adult who will listen without judgment.

Prevention begins at home. It is not enough to love our children; we must also prepare them to navigate a world where, unfortunately, not everyone has good intentions.

Listen to your children. Believe them. Ask questions. Earn their trust every single day.
